World Sight Day Celebrated at SMIH and SGRRIM & HS

On 09th October 2025, The Department of Ophthalmology, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health  Sciences in collaboration with Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, celebrated World Sight Day 2025 with great enthusiasm. The global theme, “Love Your Eyes”, emphasized the importance of regular eye care and awareness about preventable blindness.

Free eye screening camps were conducted across various schools, where hundreds of students underwent vision checks conducted by a dedicated team of ophthalmologists and optometrists.

The initiative aimed to detect refractive errors and common vision problems early, ensuring  timely intervention and treatment.

A poster-making competition was also organized for MBBS students, where participants

showcased their creativity, which was reflected beautifully through their artwork.

Vedangi (Batch 2022) won the first prize, followed by Unnati (Batch 2022) and Shradha Jha (Batch 2022), securing the second and third positions, respectively.

Prof. (Dr.) Tarannum Shakeel, HOD Deptt. of Ophthalmology, shared an important message on the occasion:

“Eyes are our most precious sense organs, and caring for them should be part of everyone’s routine. Regular eye check-ups, balanced nutrition, protection from digital strain and UV exposure, and good hygiene are key to maintaining healthy vision. Early detection and timely treatment can prevent most causes of avoidable blindness.”

The event concluded with a collective pledge to “Love Your Eyes — Protect Your Vision.”
