Global Interventional Radiology (IR) Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dehradun. It is noteworthy that Global Interventional Radiology (IR) Day is observed every year on January 16, highlighting the growing impact of interventional radiology in modern healthcare. The objective of the program was to create awareness about minimally invasive, image-guided procedures that are bringing revolutionary changes in patient care by reducing pain, risk, and recovery time.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished dignitaries. Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Principal of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, emphasized the importance of advancing technology-based medical specialties and appreciated the role of interventional radiology in improving clinical outcomes.

Dr. Gaurav Raturi, Medical Superintendent of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, acknowledged the contribution of interventional radiology in providing effective alternatives to traditional surgery. Dr. Rajeev Kumar Azad, Professor and Head of the Department of Radiodiagnosis, spoke about the evolution of radiology from diagnostic imaging to therapeutic interventions and encouraged young doctors to pursue this dynamic field. Professor and Consultant In-Charge of the Interventional Radiology Department, Dr. Prashant Sarda, highlighted recent advancements, life-saving procedures, and the expanding scope of interventional radiology in areas such as oncology, vascular diseases, and emergency care.

Professor Dr. Rajendra Kumar Srivastava and Professor Dr. Manali also shared their valuable insights on the expanding field of interventional radiology. The program featured academic discussions and interactions that underscored the importance of interventional radiology as a patient-friendly and future-oriented specialty.
