Left Hand Of Man Injured In Leopard Attack Saved By Treatment At Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital

Dehradun. The doctors of Orthopaedic Surgery Deptt. of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital have conducted successful surgery of a complicated case of a patient’s hand. The patient was severely injured in an attack by a leopard in Kotdwar. He was referred from AIIMS, Rishikesh to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dehradun for treatment. The patient’s hand, after a rigorous treatment of three weeks, has been saved. The patient has been discharged from the hospital.

Shambhu Prasad, a 75 years old resident of Dugadda, Kotdwar, was moving around in his farm was attacked by a leopard which was hiding behind the bushes. In this leopard attack, the left arm of Shambhu Prasad was severely damaged. The family members took him to Kotdwar Hospital where he was given first aid and the taken to AIIMS, Rishikesh for treatment. From AIIMS, Rishikesh, he was referred to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dehradun for being operated upon.

DHOD, Deptt. of Orthopaedic Surgery of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr. Puneet Gupta informed that both the bones of the left elbow of the patient were fractured in the leopard attack, the muscles were destroyed and veins bursted. Dr. Puneet Gupta and Dr. Pranav Kothiyal along with their team repaired the bursted muscles with C.I.R.F. and Tens implant. After that, skin grafting was also done to fill in the wound. After the successful operation, movement came into the hand of the patient. After the treatment, the patient has been discharged. At the time of discharge, Shambhu Prasad was overwhelmed with the recovery of his injured hand and referred the doctors who treated him as Gods. He and his family expressed their sincere gratitude towards the doctors of Orthopedic department, nursing and support staff of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.
